Flag and Tartan designs reflecting the "historic pride" of

Canada, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island.

Cape Breton Tartan 1957. Black for the coal mines and miners.
Grey for the steel industry. Yellow for the golden sunsets, and green
for the majestic mountains, valleys and fields.

Canadian Flag 1965. Also known as the Maple Leaf. Red from

 the British Saint George's Cross flag. White from the French royal

 emblem. The maple leaf is a symbol celebrating the nature and
 environment of Canada.

Nova Scotia Tartan 1955. Blue and white for the surf-ridden sea,

green for the forests, red for the royal lion on the Arms of the Nova
Scotia crest, and gold for the Province's historical Royal Charter.

Acadian Flag 1884. Red, white and blue like the flag of France.
The gold star at the top left, the Stella Maris (Star of the Sea),

seeks the protection of the Virgin Mary - patron saint of the Acadians;

and guides Mariners through storms and reefs.
